Duplex coating is a coating method applied to parts exposed to heavy wear and impact. When coating, it is important that the steel to be coated is a quality steel. The best results are obtained on hot and cold work tool steels and high-speed tool steels. The hardness level is in the 1800–3500 Hv range. Coatings with excellent wear and corrosion resistance are obtained. Ease of application on mold components and complex parts, and the fact that no machining is required after coating, are major advantages.
